The Mayor of New Orleans in Ascona!
The last Major of New Orleans to pay a visit to Ascona was Sidney J. Barthelemy. That was in the early years of the festival, when it was still called Festa New Orleans Music Ascona. The arrival of LaToya Cantrell to the shores of the Lago Maggiore is in itself an event that will go down in the history of JazzAscona. Accompanied by an official delegation, the Mayor of New Orleans will attend the festival from June 23rd to 26th. On June 25, LaToya Cantrell and the Mayor of Ascona Luca Pissoglio will officially sign the twinning agreement between the two cities, which was decided last fall. In the coming years, Ascona and New Orleans will not only cooperate within the framework of the festival, but also intensify their cultural, educational, tourist and economic exchanges.
