John Boutté, New Orleans’ most loved singer, returns to Ascona after 20 years
The younger brother (born in 1958) of the unforgettable Lillian Boutté, John Boutté has been considered for many years now as THE singer of New Orleans, very loved by his people. Regularly acclaimed as the singer of the year in the Off Beat referendum, this artist rarifies his outings and it is therefore a great and rare privilege to attend one of his concerts in Europe. With his emotionally rich voice that floods the listener with soul, John Boutté majestically interprets various musical genres, from jazz to R&B, from Gospel to latin-american styles.
He has appeared many times on the legendary TV Series Treme on HBO, for which his homonymous composition was chosen as title song for the program. Amongst his best albums we find Jambalaya (2003). The last born, A Well Tempered Boutté, was released in 2019 and without doubt reconfirmed John as one of the greats of New Orleans. John returns to JazzAscona nearly twenty years after his last performance, in 2004
