Trombone Shorty Foundation Brass Band at JazzAscona: all the energy and groove of the boys from New Orleans
For the first time, JazzAscona is hosting the Trombone Shorty Foundation Brass Band, a special lineup of young talent from the programs of the Trombone Shorty Foundation, created by renowned New Orleans trombonist and trumpeter Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. This brass band embodies the spirit and tradition of New Orleans music, passed down from generation to generation. It will parade through the streets of Ascona each day, bringing the energy and groove typical of Louisiana marching bands.
The Trombone Shorty Foundation provides young people between the ages of 12 and 24 with training that prepares them both musically and professionally. The Trombone Shorty Academy, inspired by Danny Barker’s historic Fairview Baptist Church Brass Band, offers free after-school lessons, while the Music Industry Apprenticeship Program provides skills to enter the music and entertainment industries. The Foundation also offers master classes and courses specifically focused on the music industry.
Through this initiative, young people have the opportunity to perform on big stages and cultivate their passion with the support of musicians and industry professionals. At JazzAscona, their presence will be an unmissable opportunity to experience the authentic musical spirit of New Orleans.
