Claus Raible: the elegance, intensity and talent of a great Jazzman
Claus Raible (born 1967) adopted the jazz language of the great masters at an early age. He began playing trumpet at the age of 11, piano at 14 and formed his first piano trio at 18. Deeply influenced by Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell, he became a reference figure in European jazz from the end of the 1990s, when he settled in Germany after a fruitful stay in New York. Thanks to his dexterity and the intensity of his playing, he shuttled back and forth between both sides of the Atlantic and worked with great musicians such as Jimmy Cobb, Ira Coleman, Keith Copeland, Charles Davis, Dennis Irvin, Herb Geller, Benny Golson, Alvin Queen, Ed Thigpen, Don Menza, Gene Jackson, Lewis Nash, Dusko Gojković, Charles Tolliver and Scott Hamilton and many others. Over the last ten years, he has been constantly composing and arranging for his various groups and other ensembles.
In Ascona we will experience him in a trio with two wonderful musicians: Milos Colovic on bass and Xaver Hellmeier on drums.
