HANDMADE MOMENTS

Handmade Moments: resilience to the sounds of folk-rock and Southern musical roots

Just when their careers seemed to be hurtling toward success, the musical duo Handmade Moments, formed by Anna Moss and Joel Ludford, was involved in a tragic accident on May 21, 2016 while traveling in their biodiesel-powered bus, built with months of work and used for touring. Ludford suffered serious injuries, Moss a concussion, and in an instant they lost their home, instruments and vehicle. Despite the tragedy, they found refuge in music and, while recovering, began writing their third album, Paw Paw Tree. Released exactly two years after the accident, the record marks their artistic rebirth, blending rock, jazz, folk and Southern musical roots. The songs address deep themes such as ecology, resilience and human emotions. On stage, the duo alternates hypnotic vocals with rich instrumentation ranging from alto sax to bass clarinet, sousaphone to mandolin and guitar. The result is an intense and engaging show that combines lightness and depth, guiding us through the different flavors of American music.
