Môme, Danilo Boggini’s new project: Édith Piaf, the soul of Jazz
A Jazz reinterpretation of Edith Piaf’s most famous songs (“La vie en rose,” “Non, je ne regrette rien,” “Milord,” and many others): an engaging new show created by Ticino accordionist Danilo Boggini. The sophisticated elegance and intense drama of the famous artist’s repertoire would seem to concede little or nothing to the world of jazz, marked by more primitive and visceral atmospheres. Yet a close look reveals unsuspected points of contact between the two worlds, capable of a mature and fruitful dialogue. It is no accident, in short, that some of the songs interpreted by Piaf have rightfully entered the international jazz repertoire. The show involves audiences in a fascinating musical union, accompanied by short descriptive paintings that trace the most significant stages of Piaf’s career.
