The Elevations: Neal Sugarman’s new soul band

Each and every Soul-lover knows Daptone Records! The label that marked the great Soul revival of the last twenty years, was founded by saxophonist Neal Sugarman, who with the Dap-Kings, the band that played on the labe’s  numerous recordings, is featured in historic albums such as Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black, Mark Ronson’s Version, Al Green’s Lay It Down or Michael Bublé’s Crazy Love.

Sugarman recently moved from the US to Zurich, where he brought together some of Switzerland’s most soulful hard-hitting jazz musicians (Neal’s own definition) to start a new band, the Soul Pleasers, whose name recently changed to The Elevations. A spectacular band, featuring Neal Sugarman sax, Ephrem Lüchingeral piano, Marcel Ricklin guitar, Andy Tollman bass, Mark Brazil congas and Luca Ramala on drums.
