A prestigious faculty quintet to celebrate SMUM’s 30th anniversary

The SMUM School of Modern Music, Educational Partner of the festival, is an institution that in Ticino can count on three locations in Lugano, Losone and Acquarossa, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It offers not only a free study course, but also a pre-college course in jazz and modern music that is unique in Ticino.

At JazzAscona we will have the pleasure of marking the anniversary with a special concert featuring a quintet of the faculty, already admired at JazzAscona, with guitarist and composer Giorgio Meuwly (whose original compositions we will hear), as well as saxophonist, conductor and arranger Gabriele Comeglio. The SMUM 5tet will bring to life a modern style, in osmosis between Jazz and funk, yet always paying due attention to the origins and great tradition of African-American Jazz.
