The Sheiks, six friendly rascals who will make you dance to the rhythm of the wild years of Jazz
The Sheiks are a band founded in Zurich in 2018 and made up of six young musicians from different musical backgrounds. They came together thanks to their love of the music of the good old days: a group of wild rascals who play Jazz the way they did it in the Roaring Twenties: cheeky, loud, fresh, lively and funny.
The name of the band, which was invited to JazzAscona for the first time as part of the special program dedicated to dancing (the genre in this case is Lindy Hop, a swing dance that originated in Harlem in the 1920s), refers to the famous song “The Sheik of Araby”, which quickly became a Jazz standard.
The band recorded an album entitled “In The Binengi”, which was created in a single day and released in 2020.
