The Traveling Janes: Ali Affleck and her all-ladies band celebrate the joyful roots of jazz and blues

Ali Affleck is one of the trad jazz queens and we already had the pleasure to enjoy her in Ascona in 2022 with trumpeter Enrico Tomasso. She’ll be back this year with her  new international band The Traveling Janes. Formed in London and featuring five fantastic musicians from four different countries, the band re-proposes the joyful, irreverent, and wild music of yesteryear, those old tunes and songs that made immortal by jazz and blues pioneers like Louis Armstrong, Ma Rainey, Jelly Roll Morton or Sidney Bechet.

Traveling Janes refers to the  women who worked on the railroads and in the travelling tents of vaudeville shows across the United States in the early 20th century. It is an engaging celebration of that daring and joyful spirit and music, that is still vibrant as well as  historically and artistically relevant to this day.
