On Tuesday 25 June in the afternoon (at the Papio auditorium between 2 and 4pm) a great workshop (free and open to everyone) will take place on the relationship between ensemble music and jazz improvisation, featuring two world class educators, both active in United States Universities: Barb Catlin and Wayne Bergeron.

The programme is dense and full of interesting ideas, and after the swing and lindy hop dance workshop (between 7.00 and 8.00 pm) it invites you to dance on with a multitude of music.

We would like to point out the first performance of the young soul singer Nnavy at JazzAscona 2024, (Blue Llama Terrace, 21:30 – 22:30), or one of this year’s most popular groups, The Traveling Janes: five musicians, with singer Ali Affleck, honouring the roots of jazz and blues (Elvezia, 22:00 – 22:45). Also not to be missed is American singer and pianist Mitch Woods, who will be offering a one-man show at JazzAscona 2024 at the Seven Sea Lounge with a mix of jump blues, jazz and boogie-woogie (from 22:30).

Among today’s news don’t miss ORGANIC BREW, a sextet formed especially for JazzAscona and consisting of the two outstanding Hammond players Andi Appignani and Alberto Marsico. Their music, arranged by saxophonist Mirko Roccato, moves between jazz, blues and groove, and their concerts promise to be some of the most interesting of this 40th edition (Stage Elvezia, from 23:30). For lovers of Hammond music, we would like to point out that Andrea Marsico will also be performing in duo with the talented German singer Sonja Priehn (Blue Llama Terrace, 7-8pm).
