Trad jazz legends made in France: Paris Washboard Superswing
It is with great pleasure that JazzAscona welcomes back some of the most important French and international trad jazz players. Paris Washboard Superswing is the combination of two groups, both founded by trombonist Daniel Barda: the legendary Paris Washboard – which has performed all over the world for over forty years and recorded some 16 records – and the Super Swing Project, born three years ago.
The band specialises in a rare “New Orleans” repertoire, ranging from the 1920s to the 1940s and including some original compositions. The musicians perform in a relaxed and humorous manner that suits this style of music. Three of the ensemble’s musicians, Daniel Barda, Alain Marquet and Louis Mazetier, have won the prestigious Prix Sidney Bechet.
