Swing sheiks and flamenco steps

One of today’s highlights will certainly be the jazz cruise ( with live music by Meschiya Lake & The Jungle Jazz Band on board), departing from the Gambarogno ports and bringing the public to JazzAscona (and return later in the evening). A reservation is recommended.

On the lakeside, the main stage is shared by two groups, starting (at 8 p.m.) with singer Nnavy, from Vaud and of Burundian origin, she is considered one of the most promising new artists on the Soul/R&B music scene, has performed  at the Montreux and Cully festivals, has four EP and some 20 million plays on Spotify to her credit, and always charms the public with her emotional and, soulfull  voice. Also on the main New Orleans stage (22:30 – 24:00), The Sheiks, a spectacular sextet formed in 2018 in Zurich, swinging like in the roaring years of jazz will make you dance.

Tonight, Brassmaster Flash – ten young musicians from western Switzerland moving between brass band, hip-hop and groove (Biblioteca, 7.30 – 8.30 pm) – will also be making their debut, and the programme will feature some flamenco, first with a workshop led by Ladina & Naty (Elvezia, 7.00 – 8.00 pm) and then at 9.00 pm with a performance by La de Triana, a group that was very much appreciated last year.
