The Ragtime Nightmare, Berlin’s crazy nights’ sound comes to Ascona

The setting is the wild metropolitan nights of Berlin. It is there that The Ragtime Nightmare have been enlivening legendary dance parties with their distinctive brand of hot jazz, blues, and ragtime since 2016. Since then, the band’s musicians have been spicing up their compositions with the sound of old ragtime string bands, New Orleans brass bands, bluesy jug bands from the Deep South, and western swing bands, merrily mixing in the notes of banjo, saxophone, stride piano, and fiddles.

Their obsession is to capture and rearrange the sounds and moods of old 78 rpm records: they are inspired by great artists such as Jelly Roll Morton, Clifford Hayes, the Memphis Jug Band, Lionel Belasco and Milton Brown. Ragtime Nightmare always enjoy entertaining the audience, but their real intent is to make people jump up from their seats and dance!
